Three GIF features you should know
GIFS are great for animating any type of content. In this Giphy guide, we’ll share three best practices when creating or using GIFs:
1.- Context is the key to GIF
GIFs allow you to express and communicate with everyone in a very carefree and fun way. But you have to create them using the right context. If you forgo this step, your brand image could be tarnished. GIFs are full of humor. But sometimes it just doesn’t match what you’re trying to share.
Almost all GIFs are pop culture snippets (memes, TV shows, movie scenes, etc.) and that means they might have some other meaning beyond what is happening on the GIF. Before sharing anything, you need to make sure that the context used on the GIF is the correct one, so that you don’t end up accidentally sharing a GIF that has a different meaning than what you intended to convey.
2.- Give different purposes to GIFs
When someone uses the perfect GIF, it’s entertaining. While fun GIFs can improve your level of engagement and make a brand more accessible, there are plenty of ways you can use GIFs to promote your brand.
You can use GIFs to animate data, read advertisements, or even create more engaging presentations, product demos or advertisements, etc. Don’t just use them to support your content, you can make GIF the main event. It’s a way to make your content marketing strategy have another focus.
3.- Omit content that uses your brand image
Create your own content. But it can’t be over-exaggerated or very closely related to your brand. You don’t always need to display a logo or something related to your brand. You can create something that just supports your content. Every time they see your feed, they’ll see it full of GIFs with your logo on it and you want to avoid that. It looks extremely boring. You have to capture incredible moments.
If you have created a fantastic and original GIF related to your brand that you want to share on social media, keep it simple and avoid making your brand what stands out from the GIF. Just add a small logo at the bottom corner, like a watermark. This will give your GIF personality and a mark.
As with everything, creating GIFs is only part of the content marketing strategy which can help you reach your target audience. An authentic and different strategy that will directly impact your users. Antevenio can help you find the essential elements to improve the impact of your actions.
