To ensure that some pages are not indexed, this is done by implementing the noindex tag

in the robots.txt fileIt might sound a bit complicated, but once you know how to do it, it’s really quick and easy.

You can check your robots file by putting: yourdomain.com/robots.txt. This way you can check the file and see which pages are blocked by search engines. It is important to clarify that, even if a URL is placed in noindex, it is still accessible to Internet users, i.e. it only affects when search engines crawl the page.

First we go to the Shopify admin panel of our website. Once inside, we select:

The subjects.

Inside the tag, we’ll paste the following code:

{% if the descriptor contains ‘tu-página-to-excluir’%}

{% end if %}

Replace “your page to be excluded” by the identifier of the page in question. This code snippet will modify the robots.txt file indicating that the page you entered should not be indexed.

Finally, we give you to save for the changes to be applied and… Done! You now have your page in noindex and it will not appear in search results.

This way, you can de-index all the pages that are not SEO-relevant and only improve the ones that you are interested in positioning and that receive organic traffic.
