“Play for the World”: Nike encourages us to continue doing sports during quarantine
With gyms closed because of quarantine, people have been coping as best they can for weeks so they can exercise at home. Nike wanted to wink at these people with its “Play for the world” campaign in which they encourage them to play at home to help the world recover as soon as possible from the pandemic.
The spot shows photos and Videos of different people practicing sports at home, including athletes such as LeBron James, boxer Ramla Ali and volleyball player Sara Hughes. These images are accompanied by a copy that emphasizes the concept “Play for the world”: “We may not be playing together. We may not be playing for our countries yet. We may not be playing for a large audience. But today we are playing for 7.8 billion people. ”
The spot, created by Wieden + Kennedy Portland (United States) is part of the content strategy that Nike has created so that people remain active during the quarantine. And is that the brand is broadcasting live training of its “master trainers” and has also organized the Living Room Cup a kind of competition without leaving home.
