During this time of confinement, Facebook and Instagram lives are enjoying real success with users. In particular, they allow people to take distance courses or even share moments with loved ones and interact directly with them. To simplify daily activities, Facebook offers new functionalities for Facebook lives as well as those of Instagram.
1. “Live With” to invite friends to your lives
Facebook reintroduces “Live With” to invite friends to appear in your live videos. Just select a guest in the Live Viewers section or click on a comment from a spectator of your live. The person can choose whether or not to join your broadcast.
2. Broadcasting live videos for your Facebook events
Facebook events will be able to be displayed as “accessible only online” and you will have the possibility of setting up lives for a live broadcast to your guests. The platform will also offer Facebook pages to monetize access to live events such as professional conferences.
3. New “Donate” button
Mark Zuckerberg's social platform also encourages fundraising for non-profit causes with the addition of a “Donate” button available on live events.
4. Easy access to lives
If you have a bad connection or your mobile data is limited, you can choose to attend lives only with audio. Without an account, it is also possible to access certain Facebook lives via a web page. Pages even share a toll-free number for listening to audio from a phone.
5. The Facebook Gaming application for your live games
The broadcasting of live games is now possible thanks to the new Facebook Gaming application which you can already download. You can play games and follow your favorite streamers. For gamers, tournaments can already take place on Facebook and will soon be possible on the Facebook Gaming application.
6. Stars to support creators
You have the opportunity to support your favorite creators. Just buy “stars” and send them as a live or on-demand video to be broadcast on Facebook. One star received = 1 cent donated to the creator to whom you wish to give your support.
7. Instagram lives accessible on desktop
The platform allows you to watch and comment on Instagram lives on desktop and no longer only on mobile. Live videos can now be saved to IGTV and stay in your Stories longer. They are more easily accessible for your followers.
8. Broadcasting of lives via Portal
You will soon be able to make calls to Facebook pages and groups via Portal. You will be able to share live content with your communities, using the intelligent AI-guided Portal camera which is able to follow your movements to keep you constantly in the video.
